Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

WeeklyHi is a small app for staying in touch โ€” you pick photos, choose who gets each one, and once a week they get an email. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It's written to be read.

What we collect

Your account: your email address and name (from our sign-in provider, Clerk), and the one-line intro you write for your emails. Your photos: when you upload them, we store a resized copy with embedded metadata like location and camera info (EXIF) stripped. Who you send to: the email addresses (and any names you add) of the people in your circles, and which circles they're in. How you use the app: we use PostHog, an analytics tool, to understand basic sender activity โ€” like when you upload or send โ€” and it sets cookies in your browser to do that. Waitlist sign-ups: the name and email you give us at /join.

What we don't do

We never post your photos anywhere public โ€” they go only into the emails you send. We don't sell your data, show ads, or use your photos to train anything.

Who can see your photos

The people in the circles you assign photos to see them in the emails you send. There's no feed, no public profile, and no gallery to browse. Your photos are served through links with long, unguessable addresses, and they aren't indexed or discoverable โ€” but anyone who has one of your emails can view the photos in it, so if someone you sent it to forwards the email, the people they forward it to will see them too.

The people you send to don't need an account

The people you send to get a plain email with your photos in it. They don't sign up, log in, or install anything, and they can hit Reply and it goes straight to your inbox.

Cookies

Our sign-in provider (Clerk) uses cookies to keep you signed in, and PostHog sets cookies to help us understand how the app is used. We don't use cookies to track you around the web or for advertising.

Who we rely on

To run WeeklyHi we use a few services: Clerk for sign-in, Neon for the database and photo storage, Resend for sending email, and PostHog for usage analytics. Each one handles only the information it needs to do its job.

Unsubscribing

Anyone you send to can unsubscribe with one click, in every email. That stops future emails from that sender โ€” unsubscribing from one person doesn't affect another. If an address bounces or complains, we suppress it so it doesn't receive anything more.

How long we keep things

Three months after you send photos, we replace each one with a tiny blurred version, including in emails you already sent. You can delete a photo sooner from Past weeks. Email apps sometimes keep their own saved copy of an image for a few days, and anyone who saved or forwarded an email may still have it, so we can't promise a photo is gone from every inbox. We keep the rest of your data until you delete it or ask us to โ€” email us and we'll take care of it.

Your data and your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your data any time. Email hi@weeklyhi.social. WeeklyHi is a project of Harlan H. Technologies.
